Belle is taking a break from being a wonderful broodmare.
She has given me two beautiful fillies, one bay and one chestnut
and a palomino colt. For her
previous owners she had chestnut filly and a
buckskin half-arabian colt. So
now it is Belle's turn to just be a horse. Trail riding is a blast on
her. You can gallop her out and bring her right to a walk with no
jigging or pulling on the reins. When you stop for lunch she just
stands there quietly or nuzzles you a little, hoping for a treat.
Then I started doing drill team with her and she is great at that too.
Her disposition and willingness to please is priceless.
She carefully
navigate any obstacle I have asked of her, including some very narrow
water crossings through mountain creeks, and some scary bridges. If
she is in the lead or by herself, her pace is slower and you have to
be the leader, she actually prefers to be the follower not the leader.
Over the Fourth of July 2013 weekend we did a 25 mile Educational
Endurance Ride and Belle did terrific. I even posted a pic of
the veterinarian's preride exam. He had to leave for an
emergency the day of the ride so he only saw her at 20 miles and she
pulsed down quickly. She looked as hydrated and strong after the
race as before. She is one tough mare.
Horse Camping July 2013
The above photo is almost back to camp - just under 20
miles done!
Standing patiently pulsing down
106 degree day. Decided to go for a ride and found this little
Oasis. Took about an hour out of our ride just to relax.

In the video and pictures Belle is heavy in foal with her last colt - Legion.
It was filmed in Spring 2009.
